South Surrey has wonderful parks and playgrounds, which are one of those things that make raising kids here even better. Invite friends or just head to your local playground to meet new ones. Take a few minutes to explore our Top 10 ‘trial & tested’ list of what we think are the best playgrounds in the area.

DUFFERIN PARK – Neighbourhood: Pacific Douglas

IMG_3366One of South Surrey’s newest playground; Dufferin Park. There are three play areas: a smaller structure for toddlers, a more challenging one with a climbing wall, fire pole and a fast slide for older kids and the main area with a smaller slide, swings and a rope mesh bridge. This is a fun yet challenging playground for kids of all ages. There is also a beautiful soccer field adjacent to the playground, a potty john on the opposite side of the park closer to the basketball court and street parking is available.

MORGAN CREEK PARK – Neighbourhood: Morgan Creek

IMG_4638Come enjoy this recently installed (April 2015) rainbow playground on the grounds of Morgan Elementary school. There is also a basketball court, tennis courts and a beautifully manicured field to kick the ball around. Heads up: make sure you time your visit around school recess to avoid the crowds. Street parking available.

OLIVER PARK – Neighbourhood: Grandview

IMG_3243Oliver Park opened in 2012 to serve the Morgan Heights community. You’ll find a new playground which incorporates both natural and play elements, with plenty of seating, an open grass playing area, and play equipment for both younger and older children. Plenty of street parking just in front of the park.

BAKERVIEW PARK – Neighbourhood: Sunnyside Park

Bakerview ParkBakerview Park is a popular neighbourhood park with a range of park amenities. You’ll find a beautifully gardened horticultural area, a newish playground and lots of picnic tables as well as 2 baseball diamonds and a soccer field. Parking is easily accessible via 154 Street.

FUN FUN PARK – Neighbourhood: Ocean Park

IMG_3332Located in Ocean Park, Fun Fun Park is a neighbourhood park where you will find a newly expanded playground, picnicking areas and a kids bike pump track. The pump track is an excellent destination for tots and younger aspiring riders who will enjoy switching back and forth from the playground and the mini pump track. There are also a number of pathways connecting through the forest to the surrounding neighbourhood.

REDWOOD PARK – Neighbourhood: Hazelmere

redwood-playground-1024x682The playground at Redwood Park is definitely a kids favourite! Set within a large beautiful forested park, the multi age structures are popular with all ages. The toddler area is filled with a mini climbing wall, slides, and a 4-way teeter totter.The older kids section has a large climbing structure, challenging climbs and a big fast slide. There is also a couple of wide platform swings, a climbing net and a sand area with diggers! And if you have time, check out the Fairy Kingdom, a must see a short walk away from the playground via the 2-storey treehouse. Free parking, covered picnicking tables and washrooms, what can you ask for more?

BLUMSEN PARK – Neighbourhood: Rosemary Heights (Morgan Creek)

Blumsen Park South SurreyA great neighbourhood playground located between Rosemary Heights Drive and 34 Avenue, south of Rosemary Heights Elementary, this new park features an all-ages playground with a climbing facade, a small and large slides, a climbing net, platform swings, and a large wooded area with forested pathways. Street parking available.

CRESCENT PARK – Neighbourhood: Crescent Beach & Ocean Park

IMG_3305The playground area at Crescent Park is a bit dated but I have never heard a child complain about it! Crescent Park has so much more to offer; think forested walking trails, ducks and kingfishers hanging out at the pond, hidden streams and lots of secret meadows to discover. There’s also open fields where the kids can burn energy running around or practicing their latest soccer moves and covered picnic tables to enjoy a well deserved snack. A great park that ticks all of the boxes! There are two parking lots that can be accessed via 132 Street, a water fountain and toilet facilities.

SUNNYSIDE PARK – Neighbourhood: Sunnyside Park

Sunnyside ParkEnjoy this large neighbourhood park. At Sunnyside Park, you’ll find an outdoor pool, sports fields, softball diamonds, tennis courts, an all-ages playground complete with slides, diggers and a challenging structure for older children, and lots of grassy areas to just relax. Parking is available from 154 Street or Cranley Drive.

WINTER CRESCENT PARK – Neighbourhood: King George Corridor

IMG_3270Winter Crescent Park has a new playground, the park is tucked away at the western landing point of the Pioneer Overpass. The overpass connects Rosemary Heights with the residential areas around this park. The playground is relatively small and more toddler-centric, there is a beautiful toddler structure with a small slide, a platform swing and a couple of regular swings.  Street parking is available.
